The Community Consolidated School District 89 family engagement liaisons are community members focused on fostering relationships with parents to facilitate family engagement between home and school. The liaisons are focused on:
Family education
- Facilitating or providing training for families on topics related to navigating the school district, communicating with staff, and accessing district resources.
Information consultation
- Resource information for families
- Resource information for school staff
- Welcome new families
- Bilingual interpreting for Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, and Telugu.
Family goal setting
- Help families develop advocacy skills for their child’s academic, behavioral, and social growth.

Phill Brown

pbrown@ccsd89.orgPhill Brown knows navigating the school system can be intimidating and confusing. So he hopes that as a family-engagement liaison, he’ll be able to relieve some of that stress for students and their families. He wants to support the teachers and social workers who are creating a positive learning environment for all students in CCSD 89.
Brown is a Licensed Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in social work. He is an advocate for social justice who has more than two decades of experience working in criminal justice, with a specific focus on juvenile issues.
As part of his liaison work, Brown has a focus on helping families who are experiencing homelessness.

Maria Collins

mcollins@ccsd89.orgMaria Collins is excited to support student growth by engaging families both within and outside of the classroom. She wants to be a resource to all families.
Collins, her husband, and their children moved to Glen Ellyn in 2017. Her son and daughter attend Park View Elementary. Collins is bilingual in Spanish.
Collins worked in management for 18 years. She has been a stay-at-home mom for the past seven years. She has a bachelor's degree in management, a minor in finance, and an Organizational Leadership Certificate from Lewis University.
Maria Collins está muy contenta de poder brindar apoyo a los estudiantes en el desempeño educativo de ellos, de apoyar a los padres de familia y fortalecer las relaciones entre ellos, maestros y directores de la escuela. Esta emocionada de ser una fuente de recursos para todas las familias dentro y fuera del salón de clases.Su familia y ella se mudaron a Glen Elllyn en el 2017. Su hijo de 9 años e hija de 7 años asisten a la Escuela Park View. Collins es bilingüe en Español. Nació en México y creció en Illinois.Collins trabajó como Gerente General por 18 años y ha sido ama de casa por los últimos 7 años. Obtuvo una Licenciatura en Administración de Empresas, concentración Menor en Finanzas y Certificado de Liderazgo Organizacional de la Universidad Lewis.
Paola DeAngelo

pdeangelo@ccsd89.orgAs the mother of a child who has an Individualized Education Plan, Paola DeAngelo knows first-hand how important the connection is between school, families, and the community. She hopes to use her experiences to help other families in CCSD 89.
DeAngelo was born in Mexico and raised in Texas. She worked in healthcare for 20 years before staying home to raise her children. She has a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management from Lewis University.
DeAngelo has a son and daughter at Briar Glen Elementary. She volunteers at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. She is bilingual in Spanish.

Asima Fatima

afatima@ccsd89.orgIn the three years that her family was part of the Glenbard Parents as Teachers program, Asima Fatima saw the difference that the organization made by providing information, tools, and resources to her family. Fatima is now excited to bring those academic and social-emotional support skills to CCSD 89 families.
Fatima has a bachelor's degree from Dr. N.T.R University of Health and Sciences in India. She is a doctor of alternative medicine.
Fatima, her husband, and their three children have lived in Lombard since 2018. She is fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi. She speaks Telugu as well.
