The role of the Finance Department is to manage all aspects of the district's finances. This includes: budget development, cash management, investments, tax levying, contract management, purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, financial projections, and financial compliance with state and federal laws.
The department also oversees and manages the district's human resources, insurance and risk management, food services and transportation services.
The Finance Department is led by Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations/CSBO Maureen Jones.
Jones' entire career has been spent working on school district finances in Illinois. She joined CCSD 89 in July of 2010. She previously served as Business Manager in Westmont Community Unit School District 201 for six years and held various accounting positions in other school districts.
Jones received her bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and became a Certified Public Accountant shortly thereafter. She began her career in public education in a school treasury office. Jones received her master's degree in education from Northern Illinois University and became a Certified School Business Official in 2001.
As Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Jones has led the district in the implementation of the National School Lunch Program, online registration, online fee payment system, as well as an administrative software conversion. In 2018 and 2022, she helped lead the district's successful referendum campaigns.
Jones led the district's Community Finance committees in 2012 and 2021-22. She also leads the district's Crisis Management Team. Jones has been a member of the Enrollment Committee and Strategic Planning committees.
Maureen and her husband, Tom, live in Lisle with their two sons, T.J. and Colin.
