The district shares fliers from outside organizations through the online backpack. The district only shares fliers from non-profit community organizations that are hosting events that might be of interest to CCSD 89 students or their families.
The district does not post commercial fliers and reserves the right to reject any fliers. To have your organization's flier considered, email info@ccsd89.org.

People's Resource Center free family art classes (September)
The People's Resource Center offers free art classes for both kids and adults.

Glen Ellyn Raider Basketball tryouts (September)
This program is for 5th to 8th grade boys and girls who will be attending Glenbard South for high school. Tryouts will be in late September. For more information or to register for tryouts, go to glenellynraiders.com.

Glenbard 87 facility planning community forums (September 20-28)
As part of the Glenbard District 87 facility planning process, the district will be hosting facility planning community forums to share information about facility needs and the development of a 10-year plan to address those needs. The district's four high schools, which include Glenbard South and Glenbard West, are all more than 50 years old and have numerous capital improvement needs. The plan will consider instructional best practice, safety, and opportunities to connect and collaborate. Additional funding will be necessary to implement the new facility plan. Forums will be held September 20, 21, 27, and 28.

Glen Ellyn Historical Society Pioneer Days (September 24)
Pioneer Day at Stacy's Historic Corners Sunday, September 24, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Come see what life was like for the early settlers of Glen Ellyn, on the same spot where early residents lived. This is an opportunity to try a hand at 1840s life. There are live farm animals, craft-making, candle making, corn shelling, apple peeling, pioneer games and toys, how to rope a bed, do 1840s laundry, experience 1840s school, make a rope, tour Stacy's Tavern, and more.

Free developmental screenings from Glenbard ECC (September 25)
The Glenbard Early Childhood Collaborative will offer free developmental screenings from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on September 25 at the Glen Ellyn Public Library. For children 2 months to 5 years, with a participating adult.

YMCA Ignite the Night Teen bonfire (September 29)
Join other teens in sixth through eighth grades for s'mores, backyard games, and the chance to unleash your creativity by making your own craft! All the necessary materials are provided. It's a fantastic opportunity to have a blast with friends and meet new people your age.
This event is hosted by our Teen Advisory Board (TAB). Members of TAB work on committees to plan andexecute programs for other teens while also receiving certified leadership training.

D89 Basketball registration (due September 30)
This is a developmental league focused on learning the game of basketball. All participants play at least half the game. No prior experience is needed. This program presents an opportunity for children to learn the game of basketball, get some exercise during the winter months, be with their friends, and have fun in a relaxed, welcoming environment. All third- through sixth-grade students who live in the Arbor View, Westfield, Briar Glen, and Park View attendance areas are eligible to register.

CCSD 89 Special Olympics bocce ball event (September 30)
CCSD 89 Special Olympics hosted event: Come out and try the sport of bocce ball. All families are welcome. Park View Elementary School, 10 to noon, Saturday, September 30. Free.

B. R. Ryall YMCA fall basketball league (October - November)
Registration opened September 12. For kindergarten through third grade. The Youth Basketball League maximizes the positive effects of athletics by emphasizing healthy competition, while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. Kids learn fundamentals through weekly practices and games on Saturday mornings. Each division is based on age and ability. History Center Salem Witch trials presentation (October 7)
Saturday, October 7 at 2 p.m. in the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street, historian Jessica Michna presents “Goode Rebeka Nurse: The Salem Witch Trials.” Innocent residents of Salem, Mass., were tried and executed. Spartan Pumpkin Run (October 22)
The 15th annual Spartan Pumpkin Run will be held on Sunday, October 22, at Glen Crest Middle School, 725 Sheehan Avenue, Glen Ellyn. CCSD 89 students, families, and friends are invited to run or walk the 3.5-kilometer (2.1-mile) course that begins and ends at the middle school.
The run will start at 10 a.m. in front of the school. The route winds through local neighborhoods and around the lake in Panfish Park. Some local roads will be temporarily closed during the race. (see map) The registration form can be found here: https://bit.ly/pumpkin2023

Butterfield Park District free-throw contest (November 15)
Butterfield Park District will host its inaugural Turkey Shoot Free-Throw Contest at 5:30 p.m. November 15. Each participant shoots 10 free throws. Butterfield Park District RecKids before- and after-school care
Serving: Arbor View, Briar Glen, Park View, Westfield
The RecKids program provides child-care services in a fun, safe, and active environment. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade will enjoy supervised age-based activities before and after school, in addition to daily homework time and appropriate healthy snacks. The park district offers a variety of scheduling options, as well as all-day programming for days when CCSD 89 is not in school. Free early childhood education through Metropolitan Family Services
Metropolitan Family Services DuPage offers high-quality, comprehensive, early childhood programs to support children's social, emotional, and intellectual development, including working directly with early intervention and school districts to provide services to children with disabilities. All early childhood programs are free of charge.

Birth to Five Illinois Action Council
Birth to Five Illinois works in every community to ensure families, early childhood educators, local businesses, and other stakeholders have a platform to share what they think is best for children’s futures.
The Action Group meets twice a month to: Amplify the voices of families who are often unheard; Identify gaps in early childhood programming; Make recommendations to expand services; Develop a plan to fulfill community recommendations; and Work closely with local coalitions to support community goals.

DuPage Health Coalition: Health services for uninsured and limited income
Access DuPage coordinates low-cost comprehensive health care, including primary and specialty care, medication, and hospital services for those who don’t have a pathway to insurance, thanks to the help of community partners and volunteers.

Struggling to pay for medication? The DuPage Dispensary of Hope may be able to help. The DuPage Health Coalition is partnering with DuPage County to offer this service at no charge to those who qualify. If you are low-income and uninsured some of your medications may be available for free.
