All CCSD 89 schools closed January 18 for Martin Luther King Jr. holiday
All CCSD 89 schools are closed Monday, January 18, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. School will resume on a hybrid schedule on Tuesday, January 19.

Get tips for helping your child thrive in hybrid learning at CCSD 89 Parent University on January 21
Families are invited to learn more strategies for helping their students succeed in hybrid and remote learning during the first CCSD 89 Parent University meeting. The webinar will be held via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. on January 21.

Families can now submit 2021-22 preschool pre-registration
Families interested in having their child attend Community Consolidated School District 89 preschool in the 2021-22 school year can now fill out a pre-registration information form.

Free meals available 3:30-5:30 p.m. Mondays, 8:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays
All CCSD 89 families can pick up a week’s worth of free breakfasts and lunches at all five schools. Meals will now be available from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, or 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Donors can get free COVID-19 antibody testing at January 13 blood drive
There is a critical need for blood donations at this time. The community can donate between 2 and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, at Glen Crest Middle School, 725 Sheehan Avenue.

Students can report bullying, threats, crises through “SpeakUp for Safety” tip line
Students in CCSD 89 have a new tool for reporting bullying, threats, or classmates in crisis. Students can confidentially call, email, or text the “SpeakUp for Safety” tipline at any time if they have information an adult needs to know.

CCSD 89 band, orchestra students earn honors at state competition
Twenty seven CCSD 89 musicians earned honors at the recent Illinois Grade School Music Association solo and ensemble contest. Four students earned perfect scores.

Board approves COVID-19 testing and potential January 11 return to in-person
CCSD 89 elementary and middle-school students could return to in-person learning on Monday, January 11. Students would resume hybrid learning on the same schedule that was in place for in-person in October. Students would still have the option to learn remotely.

Remote learning will resume January 5 after winter break
After winter break, all CCSD 89 students will resume remote learning on Tuesday, January 5. Students will learn remotely Tuesday through Friday that week.

Families should continue to report COVID-19 health conditions during adaptive pause
If your student is COVID-19 positive, has COVID-19 symptoms, or is in quarantine because they were a close contact, please email or call the nurse at your student’s school.

Board approves revisions to 2020-21 district calendar
Students will no longer attend in-person or remotely on four days (January 4, February 5, March 26, and April 30) that were previously scheduled for student attendance. January 15 had been a half day but will now be a full day of student attendance.

District issuing fee refunds for some items that will not be used
CCSD 89 is issuing refunds for some of the fees paid during registration that are no longer applicable during a pandemic year.

All CCSD 89 students will learn remotely through winter break
The Community Consolidated School District 89 Board of Education agreed to extend the district’s adaptive pause through winter break. All students will continue learning remotely until at least January 5.

Google has warned that the service might behave irregularly, and there may still be sporadic outages this morning.

Donate a gift card to help a CCSD 89 family in need
Social workers at all five CCSD 89 schools will be collecting gift cards from Walmart, Target, Jewel, and Aldi. You can donate as many cards as you'd like, but we request that the increment for each card be between $10 and $25.

All CCSD 89 schools closed November 25-27 for Thanksgiving break
All CCSD 89 schools will be closed from Wednesday, November 25, to Friday, November 27, for Thanksgiving. Tuesday, November 24, will be a half-day (morning attendance) for all schools.
