The role of the Communications Department is to keep students, parents, and the community informed about the day-to-day operations of Community Consolidated School District 89.

Deadline is March 28 for families to share feedback through 5Essentials
Families are encouraged to take the survey before it closes on Friday, March 28.

It is critical that families complete registration as soon as possible so the district can plan for staffing and supplies.

Enjoy and support CCSD 89 musicians at the Music Café on April 12
The community event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at Glen Crest Middle School.

Celebrate the community’s diversity at the April 15 Culture Fair
This family event highlights multicultural traditions and customs from around the world.

Students, families invited to District 89 Day of Service on May 3
Students and adults will have the opportunity to make crafts and assemble care packages to benefit others.

Giovanni Catalano will be the next Director of Buildings and Grounds
Catalano is the facilities operation manager responsible for buildings and property at the St. Charles North and St. Charles East high schools.

“SnapCodes” used to complete registration will be mailed in March
Be sure to keep the SnapCode; you will need it to complete registration when it opens at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9.

CCSD 89 students earn musical honors at regional competition
Twenty-three band and orchestra students were honored for outstanding musical performances at the Illinois Grade School Music Association solo and ensemble contest.

Briar Glen teacher Shawn Barth is CCSD 89 Educator of the Year
Since starting at Briar Glen in 2002, Barth has taught first, second, and third grade.

Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. March 17 in district office
The Board of Education will meet at the CCSD 89 District Office. All board meetings are open to the public.

Pre-registration now open for 2025-26 kindergartners and new students
Registration for returning students will open April 9.

Board approves 2025-26 school calendar
The first day of the 2025-26 school year for students will be Wednesday, August 20.

2025-26 preschool pre-registration is now open
Preschool pre-registration will close on Friday, January 31.

PowerSchool emails about cybersecurity breach are legitimate
The district does not have a role in the credit monitoring offer and families can determine whether they want to use it.

Teacher Institute Day: No student attendance on February 28
School will resume on a regular schedule on Monday, March 3.

Free dental screenings, oral health kits on February 28
Dental screenings are available to all school-age children.

Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. February 24 in district office
The Board meets at the District Office, 22W600 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. All board meetings are open to the public.

Cheer on unified basketball team on February 22
The team will play at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Jay Stream Middle School in Carol Stream.

All schools closed February 17 for Presidents’ Day
CCSD 89 schools and the district office will be closed on Monday, February 17, for President’s Day.
