COVID-19 notifications
-
When in-person learning is taking place, Community Consolidated School District 89 will notify families when a staff member or student who tests positive for COVID-19 was in their building. The district will work with the DuPage County Health Department to conduct contact tracing for any staff or students who may be directly affected.
Staff or families of students who have had close contact (defined as within 6 feet for 15 minutes cumulatively) will be contacted by phone as well as a separate communication with instructions on whether you need to quarantine. If you do not receive a communication, you are not a close contact. If you have further questions, please reach out to your building principal.
Guidance about when students should remain home from school is available in this video (https://youtu.be/AW2qxxnqVoE) and the DuPage County Health Department exclusion guidance: https://bit.ly/2Scaf5L If your student is showing COVID-19 symptoms, they should stay home for 10 days or until they have an alternative diagnosis.
The district reviews school data with the DuPage County Health Department.

Parents are asked to report students who are COVID-19 positive, in quarantine because they were a close contact, and experiencing COVID-19 symptoms to the school nurse. During remote learning, student numbers may be affected by parent reporting.
While the students are in full remote learning, the schools will not be sending notifications of COVID-19-positive cases. The district will continue to update historical data on student/staff positive cases, exclusions, and quarantine.
Current student/staff cases reflect students who were participating in-person learning.
Students/staff quarantine when they have been a close contact with a positive COVID-19 case, either in or outside of school, but have not tested positive.
Decisions related to in-person learning are done in consultation with the DuPage County Health Department, and following the Illinois Department of Public Health and CDC guidance. In addition to DuPage County health metrics, the district monitors cases in Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and Wheaton. The district reviews cases and absences among students and staff. The district will continue to enforce wearing masks, social distancing, and frequent hand washing.
