The district shares fliers from outside organizations through the online backpack. The district only shares fliers from local non-profit community organizations which are hosting events that might be of interest to CCSD 89 students or their families.
The district does not post commercial fliers and reserves the right to reject any fliers. To have your organization's flier considered, email info@ccsd89.org.

3 on 3 Basketball Tournament (May 18)
3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and Fellowship. Sunday, May 18, 1-6 p.m. at Glenbard South High School, Fieldhouse Courts, 23W200 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn.
Open to girls and boys, 5th - 8th grades, 9th - 12th graders, and Adults (18 +).
Up to four players per team! Costs: $15 per player (includes food, t-shirt, and prizes).

History Center presentation on Route 66 (May 31)
Glen Ellyn Historical Society welcomes historian and actress Leslie Goddard as she explores the history of Route 66, the iconic road that linked Chicago to Los Angeles from 1926 until the 1980s. The name brings to mind gas stations, mom-and-pop motels, quirky attractions, and adventure on the open road. In this nostalgia-packed lecture, Goddard helps the audience learn why Route 66 is indelibly associated with the lore of the American road trip. History Center seeking baton twirlers for parade (July 4)
The Glen Ellyn Historical Society is looking into organizing and sponsoring a multi-generational just-for-fun baton twirling troupe to be part of Glen Ellyn’s 4th of July parade with the Historical Society group. All ages and skill levels, individuals and families are welcome and encouraged to be with us.

Free Summer Meals program (summer)
Illinois is participating in “SUN Bucks”, a federal nutrition program that provides cash for summer food to families with children eligible for free- or reduced-price school meals. SUN Bucks will provide $120 annually on an electronic benefit transfer card. Families are eligible if they are identified as direct certified due to participation in SNAP, TANF, income-eligible Medicaid, or is identified as foster, homeless, or migrant. AAUW used book sale at Park View (June 19-21)
The American Association of University Women Wheaton-Glen Ellyn Branch will host its annual used book sale June 19-21 at Park View. The sale funds college scholarships for local high school girls. The sale will offer more than 12,000 books from a wide variety of genres, including children's and young adult. This year, board games and puzzles will also be sold. If you’d like to donate books, a bin will be available in several community locations as well as at Park View from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 9-13 and June 16-18.

Meet-up for caregivers of neurodivergent children (Wednesdays)
7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Wheaton Public Library. Parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children of all ages are welcome to join an open and supportive environment to share experiences, challenges, achievements, and resources. Facilitated by and in partnership with staff members from North Shore Pediatric Therapy. This program is for adults only; no childcare will be provided.

People's Resource Center literacy classes
Conversation Class. Practice speaking English in a small-group setting weekly. These classes are offered online and in person based on your English level.
Practical English Class. These classes are focused on reading and writing in English while also practicing speaking. Classes are offered in person.
One-on-One Tutoring Sessions. Need help with GED, citizenship, or ESL? You can work with a tutor to achieve your goals.

Butterfield Park District Bullfrogs swim team (summer)
Butterfield Park District Bullfrogs Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. The Bullfrogs coaching staff focuses on building swimmer skills, teamwork, enjoyment of the sport, and participation in competitive swimming. Falcons Season is open to preschool through eighth graders, and will run July through October. The Falcons focus on skill-building and sportsmanship, while also offering an exciting and supportive environment to prepare for junior and high school sports.

B. R. Ryall Teen Center
The B. R. Ryall YMCA in Glen Ellyn recently opened a new Teen Center designed as an after-school hangout location for middle- and high-school students. The Teen Center is open 3:45 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Support group for families of children with autism
Wheaton Library has a support group for parents of children with autism that meets at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month, in person at the library. CCSD 89 preschool developmental screenings
Community Consolidated School District 89 conducts developmental screening periodically during the school year for children from the age of 2 years 10 months through 5 years old. The screening includes the use of the Ages & Stages Questionnaire 3rd Ed., Ages & Stages: Social-Emotional 2nd Ed., and play-based assessment of developmental skills. Community Partners Play Date at Wheaton library (monthly)
