Mrs. Tara Petersen

Hello! I began working at Glen Crest in 2024 as the Reading Interventionist, and before that, I was a classroom teacher for 15 years. I'm passionate about reading. I love helping students find books they love, and I believe in the importance of windows (resources that offer views of someone else's experiences) and mirrors (stories we connect with because they allow us to see ourselves). My goal is to foster a love of reading in my students, and I aim to help them confidently navigate and critically analyze texts. I'm thrilled to be part of the Spartan staff, and I'm looking forward to partnering with families to help their students become life-long readers and learners. When I'm not at school, I enjoy running, playing pickleball, exploring Chicago, and spending time with my family and friends.
