The district shares fliers from outside organizations through the online backpack. The district only shares fliers from non-profit community organizations that are hosting events that might be of interest to CCSD 89 students or their families.
The district does not post commercial fliers and reserves the right to reject any fliers. To have your organization's flier considered, email info@ccsd89.org.

People's Resource Center Career Fair (March 14)
People’s Resource Center (PRC) Job Assistance Program will host its ninth annual Career Fair. In-person event open to the public. Registration free and required for participation. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at Wheaton Public Library
Job seekers will have the opportunity to talk to employers from a variety of different companies in DuPage County. In addition, the PRC Career Fair will offer tables where participants can have their resumes reviewed and participate in practice interviews, as well as learn about other PRC services. PRC will also offer an opportunity to get a free professional headshot for your LinkedIn profile.

Author Mary Beth Keane at GECRC Literary Event (April 18)
This year’s Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center Literary Event will feature author Mary Beth Keane. Keane is the author of New York Times bestseller “Ask Again, Yes” and the upcoming novel “The Half Moon”.

Comic book and radio heroes of the 30s History Center presentation (April 19)
The Glen Ellyn Historical Society presents actor, writer, and editor of Nostalgia Digest podcasts, Steve Darnall, in an audio-visual presentation spotlighting the comic book and radio heroes of the 1930s.
He brings back Orphan Annie, Dick Tracy, and Superman as well as other legendary comic book heroes with radio programs during his presentation. Darnall even delves into romance comics and programs of the 30s.
The program is at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street, Glen Ellyn, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 adults, $8 GEHS members and students.

Kiwanis hanging basket and Vidalia onion sales (April 29)
The Kiwanis Club of Glen Ellyn is a group of individuals who work to improve the lives of children in our community. Their annual Vidalia Onion and Hanging Basket Sale helps them to fund their goal. One hundred percent of the profit from this fundraiser goes back to the community.
The biggest service endeavor, The Weekend Snack Pack project which gives food insecure children extra food for the weekend has been helping these most vulnerable kids for the past five years. They prepare approximately 620 snack packs each week for kids, including kids at the Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center in CCSD 89.

"The Women who Built Chicago" history presentation (March 23)
The Glen Ellyn Historical Society presents author and historian Laurie Russell at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. Russell is the author of the book, “The Remarkable Women Who Helped Build Chicago." Included are women who risked their lives in the Underground Railroad, built hospitals and schools, contributed to the arts, created progressive women’s club movements, and more. Admission is $5 adults, GEHS members $3, and students $3. Call 630-469-1867 and check the website at www.gehs.org.

Butterfield Park District Breakfast with the Bunny (March 23)
Grab your Easter basket and hop out to The Glen for your chance to collect eggs that the BPD bunny has left behind. This event will take place outside. Pre-registration is required. Breakfast 9-11 a.m. Egg-scramble will follow at 11:15 a.m.

Community Partners Play Date at Wheaton library (monthly)
The Community Partners Play Date is a time for families with children ages 0-5 to enjoy the library and learn about resources in their community. This will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the last Friday of each month at Wheaton Public Library. The first play date will be Friday, January 26.

Spring soccer league at Butterfield Park District (April-May)
Spring league for players to get higher level skills training at a young age. Open to boys and girls. Practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays; games on Sundays. April 9-May 19.

World's Largest Swimming Lesson at Butterfield Park District (June 20)

B.R. Ryall summer camp (summer)
The B.R. Ryall full-day camps are age-specific to ensure there are appropriate activities and expectations. Weekly themes are incorporated into outdoor games, sports, crafts, songs, and enrichment activities. Swimming, outings to local parks, and a field trip round out each week. Butterfield Park District Bullfrogs swim team (summer)
Butterfield Park District Bullfrogs Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. The Bullfrogs coaching staff focuses on building swimmer skills, teamwork, enjoyment of the sport, and participation in competitive swimming. The team will challenge each swimmer and develop them to the best of their ability. Competitions include swim meets twice a week during the swim team's summer season.

Serving: Arbor View, Briar Glen, Park View, Westfield
The RecKids program provides child-care services in a fun, safe, and active environment. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade will enjoy supervised age-based activities before and after school, in addition to daily homework time and appropriate healthy snacks. The park district offers a variety of scheduling options, as well as all-day programming for days when CCSD 89 is not in school.
