The first day of the 2025-26 school year for students will be Wednesday, August 20. Staff will start the school year with two planning days on August 18 and 19.

Congratulations to the eight Glen Crest Middle School students who were honored at the Board of Education meeting on April 21. The eight students were all selected to participate in the Illinois American Choral Directors Association Junior Honors Chorus at Illinois State University.
The students selected include: seventh-grade students Sloane Dimler (soprano), Romina Hidalgo Rivera (alto), Megan Lowman Elizondo (alto) and Sienna Walsh (soprano) and eighth-grade students Srihitha Gandla (alto), Hannah Mastro (alto), Zoey Poi (alto) and Emma Waldbusser (soprano).
The students received a day of rehearsals and clinics with a university chorus director. Students then had the opportunity to perform their three prepared pieces as a chorus at the ISU Center for the Performing Arts in the fall. The Glen Crest choir teacher is Sam Koppitz.

Starting to put away your kids’ winter clothes? If you find any new or lightly used snow pants, winter coats, or boots that no longer fit, please consider donating them to CCSD 89 families in need. The district is collecting these new or lightly used items at schools or the district office, 22W600 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. The clothes will be distributed to students next winter.
Through the end of May, you can bring the items to the reception desk on the first floor any time between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Reminder: If you have automatic monthly deposits set up for your students’ lunch account, those deposits will continue over the summer unless you turn them off through MySchoolBucks. To cancel or edit your AutoPay settings in PowerSchool, click “AutoPay Settings” in the Home drop-down menu. From there you can click on “Disable AutoPay”.
Any unused money in your student’s MySchoolBucks lunch account will automatically roll over to the next school year. Families of current eighth-grade students will need to contact CCSD 89 Accounting Coordinator Wendy Nadeau at (630) 469-8900, extension 3507, or wnadeau@ccsd89.org to request that funds be transferred to a sibling or request a refund check for the remaining funds.

Congratulations to the 251 Glen Crest students who were promoted to high school freshman on May 29, 2025. The promotion ceremony was held at Wheaton Warrenville South High School.
