The Community Consolidated School District 89 Board of Education unanimously approved Matt Boeing to be the next assistant principal at Glen Crest Middle School during Monday’s board meeting. Boeing is an experienced administrator and long-time coach.
“His enthusiasm and passion for supporting students and families really stood out to everyone on the interview team,” said Glen Crest principal Sammy Smith. “He has had experiences as a dean and as a coach that have prepared him to be a great assistant principal for Glen Crest.”
Smith was previously the Glen Crest assistant principal. In May, she was selected to be the school’s principal. She was part of the team that hired Boeing.
Boeing is excited to meet the Spartan students and families. He recently stopped by the school and picked up a yearbook so he could start familiarizing himself with students and staff members.
“I want the students to know that I will work hard to make sure they feel that they are a part of something bigger than themselves,” he said. “You’re only in middle school for three years, but the things that happen in those three years will impact you for the rest of your lives.”
Boeing strongly believes that all students can have success when they are supported by a strong school-home partnership.
“My goal is to ensure every student feels supported, challenged, and connected during their middle school years,” he said. “I want families to know that we will care for every student as if they were our own.”
Boeing began his teaching career in 2015, as a physical education teacher in Medinah School District 11, where he created and led the district’s largest event: a district-wide color run. As a teacher in Medinah 11, he served on multiple committees, developed behavior management plans, created positive behavior incentives for students, and found ways to bring the physical education curriculum to families.
In 2024, he was named the dean of students at Medinah Intermediate School, where he was focused on student support, school culture, positive behavior systems, and family engagement.
From 2014 to 2025, Boeing was also the head hockey director at York High School, where he won multiple league championships and made consecutive appearances in the state finals. His coaching experiences reinforced his belief that success is built through perseverance, teamwork, and learning from challenges.
Boeing earned his bachelor's degree from Elmhurst College and his master's degree in educational leadership from American College of Education.
Matt and his wife, Carly, a middle school teacher, have two kids: 3-year-old Hudson and 1-year-old Hadley. Outside of school, he enjoys coaching youth hockey and tee ball, golfing, and spending time outdoors -- especially in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
