Community members can support the urgent need for blood by donating between 2 and 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, at Glen Crest Middle School, 725 Sheehan Avenue, Glen Ellyn.

Versiti Blood Center of Illinois provides blood to hospitals across the country.
According to Versiti, a blood donation is needed every two seconds in the U.S. Cancer patients can need up to eight units of blood each month.

Blood donation is a simple four-step process: registration, medical history, and mini-physical, donation, and refreshments. The actual blood donation takes about 10 to 12 minutes. The entire process - from arrival to exit - takes about an hour.
After August 27, the next blood drive scheduled for Glen Crest is on November 5.
