Fire at Pershing building

Residents are invited to support three CCSD 89 families that were displaced by a recent fire in a Glen Ellyn apartment building.

Two Park View Elementary School students and two Glen Crest Middle School students were impacted by the fire that occurred around 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, in the 700 block of Pershing Avenue, Glen Ellyn. Although there were no serious injuries, the families lost most of their possessions in the fire.

If you would like to help these families recover, the district is accepting gift cards to Aldi, Jewel, Target, and Walmart.

Donations can be dropped off at the front desk on the first floor of the district office at 22W600 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. Donations can also be mailed to CCSD 89, 22w600 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137, ATTN: Katie Kreller.

One family impacted by the fire is looking for donations of clothing for three family members: girls’ tops and bottoms (size 8) and children's size 12 shoes; women’s tops and bottoms (size medium); and boys' tops and bottoms (size adult medium).

Any donations will be delivered directly to the affected CCSD 89 families.
