Wheaton resident Yannick Koger has been appointed to fill the vacant seat on the Community Consolidated School District 89 Board of Education. The board unanimously approved the appointment of Koger during Monday night’s regular Board meeting.
At the same meeting, Board Member Jay Lerch was elected as Board Vice President. Haydee Núñez will continue as President of the Board of Education, and Scott Pope will continue as Board Secretary Pro Tem.
Koger will fill the remainder of Tim Jedlicka’s term, which runs through 2023. Jedlicka resigned from the Board in October, when he moved out of state.
Koger has lived in Wheaton for five years. He and his wife have three girls who attend Arbor View Elementary School.
Koger has participated in the Arbor View PTC and the district’s strategic plan committees. He also helped with the district’s referendum campaign in 2018. These experiences encouraged him to look for more opportunities to serve the local educational community.
“I would like to do my part to contribute to the mission of the district: to make sure every single student has what they need to be successful,” Koger said. “I see that education is a key driver of opportunity for all kids and I want to continue that in a positive way.”
Koger grew up in Virginia and double-majored in marketing and neuroscience at The College of William & Mary. He is now a marketing analytics consultant for Meta Platforms Inc., and helps coach his daughters’ soccer and volleyball teams.
