IGSMA students

Twenty-three band and orchestra students were honored for outstanding musical performances at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGMSA) solo and ensemble contest. The event was held Saturday, February 22, in Bloomingdale.

CCSD 89 band teachers Katie Berry and Lev Garbar, as well as orchestra teachers Kristi Kline and Andrew Ladendorf are proud of the hard work and dedication of all the students who participated. 

The students honored are:

First place ensembles: Division 1 rating - perfect score

  • Kayla Curran and Grace Sarther (flute duet) – eighth grade

 First-place solos: Division I rating - perfect score

  • Cameron Cernauske (trombone) sixth grade

  • Krish Uppal (percussion) sixth grade

  • Mila Fousias (piano) seventh grade

  • Olivia Loftsgaarden (flute) seventh grade

  • Samuel Bailey (French Horn) eighth grade
