LAH information

  • Challenge LAH is the Language Arts and Humanities program offered for children in grades 2-5 who need a more advanced curriculum in these areas to thrive academically. Learning objectives are aligned with the Common Core learning objectives, at a higher grade level. Children are identified by a review of their test data and classroom performance. Each grade level group meets with Mrs. Aiello in her Challenge classroom for three hours per week.

Activities and projects LAH students engage in may include: novel studies, poetry, research, Socratic Method, Shakespeare, Introduction to Latin, grammar, mythology, history and cultural studies, presentation skills, and more. Computer skills, teamwork, and speaking skills are incorporated into these units. Students and parents receive report card evaluations at the end of each trimester. Mrs. Aiello also meets with both parents and students for conferences in the fall to discuss goals and progress.
