Welcome incoming 4th graders! I am Miss Rachael Wallace, and I am one of Briar Glen's 4th grade teachers! In addition to being a classroom teacher, I will also be your 4th grade Social Studies teacher. I recently graduated from Elmhurst University in 2023 with my bachelor’s degree in elementary education and an endorsement in teaching english-language learners.
Before teaching, I was involved in my high school choir, and I was a competitive gymnastics coach for four years in Batavia, IL. Outside the classroom, I cherish moments spent with my fiancé, whether it's exploring new places, going on walks, or simply relaxing at home. I'm always up to try something new, whether it's a teaching trick, a hobby, a recipe, or an adventure. Shopping is a fun way for me to unwind, and I make it a priority to stay connected with friends and family, enjoying quality time and meaningful conversations.
I strive to make learning fun and engaging, always looking for creative ways to bring lessons to life. Whether it's incorporating hands-on activities, integrating technology, or adding a dash of humor, my goal is to create a positive and energetic environment where students feel inspired to learn. Fourth grade is SUCH an important year! Knowing this, I am extra passionate about creating a classroom environment where every student feels valued and understood. I base my teaching on the principles of social-emotional learning, focusing on building strong relationships, fostering self-awareness, and promoting empathy among students. It is going to be a great year!
