Board will hold regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 19
The CCSD 89 Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 19, at Glen Crest Middle School.

Seventh-grade students can apply to be a 2021-22 Student Board Member
Seventh-grade students can now apply to be one of the 2020-21 Student Representatives to the Board of Education. The Student Board Members will represent their classmates at monthly Board of Education meetings.

Registration for the 2021-22 school year is now open. To register, use the dark red 2021-22 registration button that is now active on the district's registration page.

Free meals available for remainder of 2020-21 school year

CCSD 89 will remain in March 22 extended-day schedule for remainder of 2020-21 school year
The CCSD 89 Board of Education agreed to keep the extended-day schedule that begins Monday, March 22. This schedule will remain in place through the end of the school year.

Temp checks should continue to be done at home, no longer at school doors
Starting Monday, March 8, the district will no longer be taking student’s temperatures at school entrances. The CDC continues to recommend that temperature checks be done at home every day before students leave for school.

Students can report bullying, threats, crises through “SpeakUp for Safety” tip line
Students in CCSD 89 have a new tool for reporting bullying, threats, or classmates in crisis. Students can confidentially call, email, or text the “SpeakUp for Safety” tipline at any time if they have information an adult needs to know.

Community invited to donate blood at Park View on April 15, 16, or 17
Park View will be hosting blood drives on Thursday, April 15; Friday, April 16; and April 17. Anyone in the community is welcome to donate.

Families should be receiving SnapCodes that will be used for April 7 registration
Starting March 15, the district is mailing letters to the homes of all students who will be new or returning for the 2021-22 school year.

Community invited to share input for review of strategic plan
In April, students, parents, staff, and community members will have opportunities to participate in the work of revising and updating the strategic plan.

Briar Glen teacher Chris Gillis selected as Golden Apple finalist
Briar Glen preschool teacher Chris Gillis is one of just 32 finalists for the Golden Apple Award, which honors the best educators in Illinois. There were 708 preschool-through-third-grade teachers nominated and less than 5 percent were selected to be finalists.

March 19 will be a remote day for all elementary students. Glen Crest will move its remote day from April 7 to April 6.

Glen Crest students earn top honors at math meets
The Glen Crest Middle School Math Team recently ended a brief and successful 2021 season. Several students earned top-10 finishes at the Spartans’ two virtual meets.
