The first day of the 2027-28 school year for students will be Thursday, August 19. Staff will start the school year with two planning days on Tuesday, August 17, and Wednesday, August 18.
The last day of the 2027-28 school year is scheduled to be a half day (morning attendance) on Wednesday, May 31, 2027, if no emergency days are used. If all five emergency days are used, the last day would be Wednesday, June 6, 2027. One emergency day is scheduled for April 17, 2028. If no emergency days (weather closures) are used before April 17, there would be no school on that day.
There is one half-day (morning attendance) for students in the 2027-28 schedule: the last day of the school year. The state of Illinois previously granted the district's waiver to combine several half-days into full days of professional development for staff. The decision to reduce the number of half days was the result of feedback from families.
