Advisory at Glen Crest Middle School is dedicated weekly time to foster a sense of community and belonging in order to Take Care of Yourself, Take Care of Each Other, and Take Care of Glen Crest.

Our lessons focus on Spartan Pride, Community Building, Future Ready lessons and specific Character Strong lessons that focus on belonging, engagement and well-being.

All students who are interested in participating in Chorus, Drama Club, and/or the Musical at Glen Crest should join us afterschool on Wednesday, August 26 to share some plans for the year. Learn all about this years’ chorus trips, drama club meeting topics, musical preparation information, and more! New students and returning students should plan to attend. This meeting will be from 2:45 to 3:30 pm in the Music Room (210) on Wednesday, August 26.

REHEARSAL DATES & TIMES:

6th Grade Chorus rehearses every Tuesday and Friday at 7:10 am in the Chorus Room (210)

• 6th grade’s first rehearsal is Tuesday, September 1.

7th/8th Grade Chorus rehearses every Monday and Wednesday at 7:10am in the Chorus Room (210)

• 7th/8th grade’s first rehearsal is Monday, August 31.

Students should be dropped off at Door 14 (enter the lot with the basketball hoops where the buses drop off).

REGISTRATION:

To participate, all new AND returning students must register. The deadline to register is Wednesday, September 16.

To register, follow these steps:

1. Review the Chorus Calendar and double-check all of the dates with your student. If your student will not be able to make a performance, let me know ASAP!

2. Read through the new Chorus Handbook with your student.

3. Fill out the Chorus Sign-Up/Registration Google Form with your student.

4. If you opt to bring a check for the activity fee, please have your student bring it to Mr. Koppitz on their rehearsal day.

There will be a mandatory informational meeting on Tuesday, August 25 for all students (6th, 7th and 8th) interested in joining cross country! All necessary sign-up information can be found HERE.

Meet in Spartan Hall right after school at 2:40 pm. The meeting will end at 3:20 pm. Students can take the late bus home. Contact Coach Kornblith (mkornblith@ccsd89.org) with any questions.

Below is some important information for 8th grade parents and guardians. We do not have our promotion date set yet; this information should be available SOON.

Glenbard South meeting with 8th grade parents and guardians:

From 6:00-6:20 on August 25, before Curriculum Night begins, Kim Jablonski from Glenbard South will be presenting to 8th grade parents and guardians here at Glen Crest in the upper gym.

PreACT:

8th graders will take the PreACT test here at Glen Crest on Oct. 6 during the school day. There isn't any prep work available for the test, but if you are interested in resources, please visit the ACT website.

Per CCSD 89 policy, cell phones and other personal electronic devices must remain out of sight and may not be used during the school day. While recent state legislation mandating this takes effect in 2027–28, our district policy is already active. Devices must be put away throughout the instructional day unless an approved exception is documented with the district. This policy helps to minimize distractions, disruptions and privacy concerns. If your child uses their phone to manage a medical condition or for an approved academic reason, families should complete the CCSD 89 Student Use of Personal Technology Waiver on an annual basis to request an exemption. Completed forms should be returned to the Glen Crest Middle School main office.
