We made it through our first full week of the 2026-2027 school year. It was so fun to see all of the smiling faces for Picture Day today!

We love to see our families in the hallways and classrooms of Glen Crest for Curriculum Night, getting to know teachers and staff. Please consider filling out our Curriculum Night Family Feedback Form. This will help us with anything we may need to provide to families for the remainder of the school year and plan for next year's Curriculum Night. Students will begin taking the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) tests Tuesday and Wednesday, September 1 and 2. The tests will be administered from 7:50 a.m. - 10:05 a.m. on both days.

MAP tests have no impact on student grades but are important measures of progress in reading and math. There is nothing your student needs to do to prepare. Please help make sure they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.

On Wednesday, September 3, Glen Crest students will participate in the regular lockdown drill with the Glen Ellyn Police Department. This drill is similar to the drills that students participate in each year. It involves teachers locking their classroom doors, turning off lights, and students practicing strategies to stay safe. There are no loud noises or alarms.

During the drill, a police officer will walk through the building with the principal, ensuring that each door is secured. The drill should take less than 10 minutes. These drills are an important part of keeping our school safe. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Smith or Mr. Boeing.

Advisory at Glen Crest Middle School is dedicated weekly time to foster a sense of community and belonging in order to Take Care of Yourself, Take Care of Each Other, and Take Care of Glen Crest. Advisory is held on Wednesday.

This week was our first Advisory lesson of the school year and it was a Spartan Focus lesson to build our school-wide community. Each advisory was tasked with building their own Spartan with the items in their classroom!

8th graders will take the PreACT test at Glen Crest on October 6 during the school day. This test will be used to help with high school course selection and placement at Glenbard South. There isn't any prep work available for the test, but if you are interested in resources, please visit the ACT website.

Raider Pride Night at Glenbard South is Friday, September 11. All CCSD 89 students are invited to attend the football game at 7:00 p.m. to cheer on the Raiders and be a part of the larger Raider community. CCSD 89 students should wear their school spiritwear or school colors for free admission! Glenbard South student athletes will be visiting our school during lunch periods the week of September 7 to promote this spirit event. More details will follow.

Per CCSD 89 policy, cell phones and other personal electronic devices must remain out of sight and may not be used during the school day. While recent state legislation mandating this takes effect in 2027–28, our district policy is already active. Devices must be put away throughout the instructional day unless an approved exception is documented with the district. This policy helps to minimize distractions, disruptions and privacy concerns. If your child uses their phone to manage a medical condition or for an approved academic reason, families should complete the CCSD 89 Student Use of Personal Technology Waiver on an annual basis to request an exemption. Completed forms should be returned to the Glen Crest Middle School main office.
