CCSD 89 students and their families are invited to participate in the District 89 Day of Service on Monday, January 19, at Park View Elementary School. Students and adults will have the opportunity to make crafts and assemble care packages to benefit others at the free event.
Families can sign up to participate from 9 to 10 a.m. or 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on January 19 at Park View, 250 S. Park Boulevard. (Both sessions will include the same activities.)

Space is limited to 200 CCSD 89 students and family members. Students and their families participate in the Day of Service together; this is not a drop-off event.
Families can choose to participate in any of six service projects that will help students learn and practice kindness, empathy, and perseverance, including:
Creating hugs to go into a care package for service members
Making blankets for animals in shelters
Decorating Valentine’s Day bags for Meals on Wheels
Sorting and preparing broken crayons for SCARCE (Families: Broken crayons are needed! Send your old, broken crayons to your school office by Friday, January 16, to support this project.)
Creating wildflower seed balls to plant in the spring and support our environment
Create affirmation bracelets and valentines for kids in foster care
Guests are encouraged to wear clothes that can get messy.
This event is in collaboration with Inside Out Club and is generously supported by the Kiwanis of Glen Ellyn and the District 89 Education Association.
Cereal donations needed for local food pantries
Families can bring donations of new, unopened cereal boxes. If enough boxes are donated, there will be a fun cereal-box domino video created at the event! All cereal will be donated to local food pantries.
Volunteers needed
You can show your child the power of volunteering by helping! Volunteers are needed to help direct families at the event, distribute supplies, and assist at stations.
