Two Glen Crest students were selected to participate in the prestigious Illinois Music Education Association District IX Junior Division Festival. Eighth grader Myles Clarin and seventh grader Grace Williamson participated in the festival that was held on November 15 at West Aurora High School. This is the second consecutive year that Clarin was selected for ILMEA honors.
To earn a spot in the honor ensembles, Clarin and Williamson submitted an online audition that was then judged by music educators. Clarin plays the alto saxophone and Williamson plays the violin.
At the festival, students participated in learning workshops and rehearsed with other middle school students. In the evening, Clarin and Williamson performed alongside students from across the region.
Clarin and the middle-school band performed “The Star-Spangled Banner”, “Fanfare, Ode & Festival”, “Salvation is Created”, and “The Country Club Stomp”.
Williamson and the other middle-school orchestra musicians performed “The Star-Spangled Banner”, “Mythos”, “Lullaby”, “Four Royal Dances”, and "Remember Me" from the movie Coco.
The Glen Crest band is led by Katie Berry and Lev Garbar. The Glen Crest orchestra is led Kristi Kline, Andrew Ladendorf, and Lori Rollins.
