The CCSD 89 Board of Education recently approved an increase in pay for substitute teachers.
The Board approved a $20 increase in the daily rate for classroom substitutes. The daily rate to substitute for a teacher will be $160 per day, and $170 per day once the person has subbed for 10 days in the district.
Additionally, there are incentives for people who substitute repeatedly in CCSD 89 schools. After 25 sub days, the person will receive a $15 gift card, a thank-you certificate, and have their name added to a thank-you board. After 50 days, and then again at 75 days, the substitute will receive a $100 bonus.
Other pay rates for CCSD 89 substitutes
Long-term substitute: $180 per day (increase of $20)
Aide substitute: $125 (increase of $15)
CCSD 89 retiree daily substitute rate: $180 (increase of $25)
CCSD 89 retiree as long-term substitute: $205 (increase of $20)
Substitute secretary: $20 per hour ($5 increase)
CCSD 89 aides who substitute as classroom teachers: $45 extra per contract

The district will also be looking to have permanent substitutes at each building for a few months during the school year.
