Seventh-grade students can now apply to be 2024-25 Student Board Members

Seventh-grade students can now apply to be one of the 2024-25 Student Representatives to the Board of Education. The Student Board Members will represent their classmates at monthly Board of Education meetings.

All students who submit a complete application by the 3:30 p.m. May 3 deadline will be interviewed. Two students will be selected as the district’s Student Representatives to the Board of Education. The Community Consolidated School District 89 Student Board Member program is designed to give students a greater voice in the district’s vision and planning. CCSD 89 is one of the only districts in Illinois to have middle-school student board members.

While the student board members don’t vote at meetings, they provide important insights on life as a CCSD 89 student. They discuss their school experiences, including what motivates them, the challenges they face, and the successes they’ve accomplished.

Glen Crest students who will be in eighth grade during the 2024-25 school year can apply. Student Board Members will be expected to attend the once-a-month Board meetings, which start at 7 p.m.

More information about the expectations for this position is included in the application which can be filled out here: https://forms.gle/ESvz1vgyzdQpsRpTA

A paper copy of the application is available from the main office or here: www.ccsd89.org/studentboard
