Board approves 2024-25 calendar, seeks feedback on future calendars

The first day of the 2024-25 school year for students will be Wednesday, August 21. Staff will start the school year with two planning days on Monday, August 19, and Tuesday, August 20. The 2024-25 school year is starting about one week later than usual due to summer construction. The later start will allow time to complete the work planned for this summer at all five schools.
One significant change in the calendar is that fall conferences have been moved to the evening of Thursday, October 10, and a full day on Friday, October 11.
No students will be in attendance on Monday, November 4, for a Teacher Institute Day. Also, schools will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, for Election Day.
The last day of the 2024-25 school year will be a half day (morning attendance) on May 30, 2025, if no emergency days are used. If all five emergency days are used, the last day would be June 6, 2025.
There is only one half-day for students in the 2024-25 schedule. The state of Illinois previously granted the district's waiver to combine several half-days into full days of professional development for staff. The decision to reduce the number of half days was the result of feedback from families.
