All families invited to provide feedback on gifted programming
CCSD 89 is working with Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development to complete a thorough evaluation of the district’s gifted and advanced programming. The current elementary program is called“Challenge”and is available for qualifying second- to fifth-grade grade students in language arts and humanities as well as science, technology, engineering, and math. In middle school, students may qualify for advanced literacy, math, or science.
The district began the review process with an informational meeting on January 17, led by Northwestern’s Dr. Susan Corwith. You can view that meeting here: https://youtu.be/PxvBPswGOJg
All families are now invited to provide feedback on the district’s gifted and advanced programming through this survey: https://bit.ly/3O5RKgK
Families do not currently have to be part of the gifted programming to fill out the survey.
The purpose of the evaluation is to help develop a continuous improvement plan for the district's gifted/advanced program. The district will host future in-person and online sessions where students, staff, and families can provide additional feedback on this programming.
