CCSD 89 schools will be open on Wednesday, January 17
All CCSD 89 schools will be open on Wednesday, January 17. The district office will also be open.
The National Weather Service windchill advisory is expected to still be in place on Wednesday, so no students will go outside for recess, physical education, or other activities. (The windchill warning on Tuesday morning was downgraded to an advisory Tuesday afternoon.)
It is important that your student brings appropriate clothing (winter coat, hats, gloves) to school to keep warm while entering/exiting school, or in case of an emergency. If your family needs help getting winter clothing, please contact the school’s social worker.
Buses could be moving more slowly on Wednesday due to weather conditions. The school would contact families if there were a significant issue.
Families should monitor how long their child is waiting at a bus stop. Many families can track students’ bus ride through the FirstView app. Learn more: www.ccsd89.org/busapp
When schools are open, it is the responsibility of guardians to determine if conditions allow for their children to attend school. An absence in which a parent keeps their child home for safety reasons because of inclement weather will be marked as excused.
