All CCSD 89 schools closed on Tuesday, January 16 due to cold

Due to extreme cold that could cause dangerous conditions, all Community Consolidated School District 89 schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 16. All CCSD 89 after-school activities are also canceled for Tuesday, January 16.

The National Weather Service has issued a windchill warning until noon on Tuesday, followed by a windchill advisory. All schools are expected to reopen with a normal schedule on Wednesday, January 17.

Due to school being closed on Tuesday, one day will be added to the end of the school year. The district builds five emergency days into the school calendar. This is the second emergency day the district has used in the 2023-24 school year. The last day of the school year is now scheduled to be Friday, May 31, although that could change if further emergency days are used.
