CCSD 89 honored for 23 years of excellence in financial reporting

Community Consolidated School District 89 has earned the Association of School Business Officials’ Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 23rd consecutive year. The award is only given to districts that have met or exceeded the ASBO’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.

The ASBO recognition demonstrates the district’s commitment to transparency and fiscal integrity. This honor can also help the district earn a better bond rating, which last year was upgraded to AA+. This new rating helped the district receive better rates on the bonds used to fund the community-approved construction projects and is expected to help in the upcoming bond sale as well.

The district’s finance department is led by Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Maureen Jones. Jones has been the Assistant Superintendent since 2010.

“Residents should be very proud that the district has been consistently recognized as excellent stewards of the community’s resources,” said CCSD 89 Superintendent Doug Eccarius. “As a new superintendent, it was very reassuring to see that the finance department has been nationally honored for its attention to detail and commitment to best business practices.”

ASBO International, founded in 1910, is a professional organization with approximately 5,000 members. ASBO provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of business practices, professional growth, and effective use of educational resources.

In addition to Jones, the CCSD 89 Finance Department includes Accounting Coordinator Lauren Parker, Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist Jill Urso, and Finance Office Assistant Courtney Czerwinski.
