Board hires experienced firm to assist with superintendent search

The Community Consolidated School District 89 Board of Education has hired Hazard Young Attea Associates (HYA) to assist with the search for the district’s next superintendent. The Board unanimously approved a contract with HYA at a Board meeting on Tuesday, January 3.

HYA will lead a nationwide search to replace Dr. Emily Tammaru, who will serve as CCSD 89 Superintendent until June 30. HYA, which has led more than 1,500 superintendent searches across the country, presented at the Board of Education meeting on January 3.

As part of the search, HYA can lead surveys, focus groups, and interviews with students, families, staff, and community members. These meetings would help identify the characteristics and attributes that the community desires in the district’s next superintendent. HYA would then create a Leadership Profile Report based on this feedback.

HYA can also help recruit candidates, schedule initial interviews, and coordinate Board interviews of finalists. HYA can provide guidance to the Board on potential salary and benefits for a superintendent. HYA will work with the Board until they have approved the next superintendent for CCSD 89.

The Board of Education will meet again at 7 p.m., on Monday, January 9, in the district office to continue the superintendent search work.

All board meetings are open to the public. The district will be offering live video of this board meeting and a link will be posted at: www.ccsd89.org/domain/3870

The community will be updated on opportunities for input via the district's website, newsletters, and social media channels.
