CCSD 89 seeking applicants to fill board vacancy
Community Consolidated School District 89 is now accepting applications to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Board President Tim Jedlicka.
Jedlicka filed his letter of resignation at the end of Monday’s Board of Education meeting. He is stepping down because his family is moving out of state.
“It has been my honor to serve on the District 89 School Board,” Jedlicka said. “My wife and I moved into our home 34 years ago. We raised two kids who went to Arbor View, Glen Crest, then Glenbard South. The education they received is still allowing them to succeed. I joined the Board 10 years ago because I wanted to contribute to a successful team. It has often been said that District 89 feels like a family. I will miss this part of the family, but I'm very much looking forward to spending time with my daughter without a three-hour drive. I wish District 89 and our students the best for the future.”
Because there are less than 868 days remaining in Jedlicka’s term, his seat will be filled by a new board member, appointed by a vote of board members. Anyone interested in being considered for the appointment must submit three items: a letter of interest, a current resume, and a candidate information form.
The candidate application form can be found here: https://bit.ly/3piTQ1g
Anyone interested in applying for the vacancy is invited to attend an information session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 2. The meeting will be held via Zoom. RSVP to Theresa Sevier at tsevier@ccsd89.org in order to receive the link to the meeting.
The letter, resume, and information form are due to Board Secretary Theresa Sevier by 4 p.m. Friday, November 5. They can be emailed to tsevier@ccsd89.org, or dropped off or mailed to: Theresa Sevier, Community Consolidated School District 89, 22W600 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
To apply for the Board, a resident must:
- Be at least 18 years old by the date of the appointment
- Be a registered voter
- Have lived in Illinois and the CCSD 89 boundaries for at least one year
- Be a citizen of the United States

Interviews with the Board will take place during a closed session in November. The new Board Member will be seated after a public vote from the remaining six board members.
Jedlicka was elected to the Board of Education in 2011. He was named Board President in October 2020. The appointed Board Member will fill out the remainder of Jedlicka’s term, which expires in 2023. Haydee Núñez, who had been the Board Vice President, will serve as Board President at the November meeting.
