2019 Disability Awareness Week in CCSD 89
From March 18 to 22, 2019, students from across Community Consolidated School District 89 participated in Disability Awareness Week. Throughout the district, students engaged in activities that challenged their thinking about visible and hidden disabilities.
Students and staff at Glen Crest Middle School used wheelchairs to move through the school. Students jammed with a drummer who was blind. They created art without using their hands, and attempted to make food while their vision was impaired.
All the activities increased their understanding of how life is different - and the same - for people who have disabilities.
At CCSD 89 elementary schools, students learned about how people with disabilities are the same and different. To see more photos from the week's events, go to: http://bit.ly/2CxtFL4
