Community invited to share input for review of strategic plan
Community Consolidated School District 89 is updating the document that serves as the guidepost for the district’s work. In April, students, parents, staff, and community members will have opportunities to participate in the work of revising and updating the strategic plan.
The strategic plan ensures that all decisions are aligned with the goals and visions for the district. The district typically reviews and tweaks the strategic plan each year. Every five years, the district conducts a comprehensive review of the strategic plan, which is then submitted to the Board of Education for approval. The district had scheduled to begin the revisions in the previous school year but the work was temporarily delayed by the pandemic.
On Saturday, April 10, the district will host two focus groups led by Jeff Cohn of Brave Dialogue. Each group of 50 people will meet at Glen Crest Middle School. The groups will be made up of parents, students, staff, and community members.
After brief presentations by Cohn and CCSD 89 Superintendent Dr. Emily K. Tammaru, small groups will begin facilitated discussions about the strengths of the district, challenges ahead, and the opportunities for growth.
The morning session will begin at 9 a.m. and the afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. Each session will last about three hours. Masks and social distancing requirements will be followed at all times.
If you are interested in participating in either session, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be considered. Please include your name, phone number, and whether you have students in CCSD 89 schools. Not everyone who submits their name will be able to participate. The district needs balanced representation across all schools and all grades.
If you are not able to participate in the focus groups, there will be an opportunity for all families to participate in a survey that will be sent via email in April.
