Park View Elementary to host free tax filing event February 24
Local residents can get free help filing their taxes at a Sunday, February 24, event hosted by Community Consolidated School District 89 and the College of DuPage. College of DuPage students, under the supervision of accounting instructors, will help prepare tax forms from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., at Park View Elementary School, 250 S. Park Boulevard, Glen Ellyn.
This service is open to the public. To schedule an appointment, go to: www.cod.edu/accounting.
The Accounting 2200 students can prepare forms 1040 (federal); Schedules A, B and C; small schedule D (three items or less); and all state returns. Visitors are asked to bring tax information, the previous year’s return, and account numbers for direct deposit. A list of documents that might be helpful in a tax-preparation session can be viewed here: http://www.cod.edu/programs/accounting/tax-prep.aspx
Most returns are filed the same day. If any documentation is missing, the students can still help complete the return, but submission to the IRS will be delayed until all information is complete.
College of DuPage will also host events at the College of DuPage Seaton Computer Center in Glen Ellyn (February 16 and 23; March 2, 9, 16, and 23; April 6 and 13). Additional times and locations are available here: http://www.cod.edu/programs/accounting/tax-prep.aspx
For more information, contact (630) 942-3450 or taxprep@cod.edu.
This event is partially funded by Title I and Title III grants.
