CCSD 89 band, orchestra students earn honors at state competition  


Twenty five Glen Crest musicians and two Park View students earned honors at the recent Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) District VII solo and ensemble contest. Four students, including two Park View fifth-graders, earned perfect scores. The following students earned recognition:

First-place solos: Division I rating - perfect score

Maddox Daniels – string bass (seventh grade)

Logan Sassi - cello (fifth grade - Park View)

Griffin Widicus - trumpet (eighth grade)

Micah Williamson - cello (fifth grade - Park View)

Grace Bittlingmaier - string bass and trombone (eighth grade)

John Blackmore - trombone (sixth grade)

Emma Briggs - trumpet (seventh grade)

McKenna Cooke - flute (sixth grade)

Kate Costello - French horn (6th grade)

Joslyn Czerwinski - French horn (eighth grade)

Abigail Edwards - clarinet (eighth grade)

Elise Fey - trumpet (eighth grade)

Savanna Hiscock - violin (sixth grade)

Josephine Kiley - trumpet (eighth grade)

Francesca Lazzaro - clarinet (seventh grade)

William Pope - percussion (sixth grade)

The contest held virtually the first week of December.  CCSD 89 teachers Katie Berry, Lev Garbar, Kristi Kline, and Andrew Ladendorf are proud of the hard work and dedication of all the students who participated.
