CCSD 89 students will begin 2020-21 school year on August 20
At a recent meeting, the Board of Education approved some minor adjustments to the 2020-21 school year calendar. The Board moved the start of the school year for students back by one day. The 2020-21 school year will now start August 20 for both in-person and remote learning students.
Additionally, November 3 was changed from a Teacher Institute Day to a full day off for all CCSD 89 staff and students. This change was necessary to accommodate a change in state law that made Election Day a statewide holiday.
Staff will still return to school on August 17. On August 17, 18, and 19 staff will prepare for in-person and remote learning. The last day of school for students is still scheduled to be May 25, but May 26 will be an Institute Day. The district’s emergency days (to be used if schools have to close for inclement weather) will be May 27-28 and June 1-June 3.
