Assistant Superintendent Maureen Jones named to board for Illinois Association of School Business Officials
Community Consolidated School District 89 Assistant Superintendent Maureen Jones was named to the Board of Directors for the Illinois Association of School Business Officials at the organization’s annual conference on Thursday. Jones has been the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations at CCSD 89 since 2010.
Board service is the highest level of involvement for the Illinois ASBO. As a board member, Jones will be part of the strategic conversations and professional development opportunities that will ultimately benefit CCSD 89 students and residents.
“I am passionate about kids and their futures,” Jones said. “It’s the main reason I chose school finance as a career. I ran for the Illinois ASBO Board to continue advocating for a better tomorrow for kids and to contribute in any way I can to improving their school experiences.”
Jones has been a member of the Illinois ASBO for more than 20 years. She has been involved in the Regional Organizations, Advocacy and Intergovernmental Relations, Public Policy, and Professional Development committees, as well as the Foundation Governance Board. She looks forward to representing CCSD 89 on the Illinois ASBO.
“This is a complicated profession with many parts that are constantly moving and changing,” Jones said. “I hope to help current and future business managers excel in their work through continuing the Illinois ASBO culture of strong professional development and camaraderie. Our role as business managers is to support the educational process. By doing our best work, we can assist our individual districts to ensure that learners will be able to maximize their full potential in school and in life.”
Maureen will serve a three-year term on the Illinois ASBO Board beginning in July.
