Art & Collections Fair!
Come One, Come All! Show off your collection of baseball cards, or Legos, or Hot Wheels, or Shopkins, or whatever you collect; or bring your latest creative painting or chalk drawing or any of your artistic pieces! This excitement filled event will take place on February 28th at 3:35 in the old gym, and everyone who participates will receive a prize! This is a fun way to show your interests and show off your talents to your friends and family, and there is still time to sign up! If you don't have the registration form, you can pick one up in the office or email Lauren Polzin at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will send you the form

You can email high resolution photos to Liz Binder at email@example.com. If you have multiple photos, please consider sending via Dropbox, Google Drive or any other online system. The files must be high resolution to be accepted. If you have any questions about the quality of your photos or anything else, feel free to email Liz.
The deadline to submit photos is MONDAY, MARCH 4TH.
District Restaurant Night
Save the date for the District Restaurant night. Tuesday March 5th support PEP Foundation by eating at PDQ, 4 pm to 10 pm. All proceeds from the event will go to the CCSD 89 PEP Fund.
CHANGE OF DATE FOX BOWLING FUNDRAISER has been moved to Saturday April 6th from 2 pm to 5 pm. Please adjust your calendars. AV gets money back on all purchases including bowling, food and drinks at the bar. So please be sure to mention our schools name every single time you purchase something so that we get credit for everything. Make sure you join we had a blast last year!

The Glenbard Parent Series hosts free, local talks with insights on students and parenting. The next speaker is Jessica Minahan, author of “The Behavior Code: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Teaching the Most Challenging Students”. Through humorous stories and real-life examples, Minahan will talk about strategies for reducing anxiety and increasing self regulation. 7 p.m. Thursday, February 28, Glenbard South High School. Local residents can get free help filing their taxes at a February 24 event hosted by CCSD 89 and the College of DuPage. COD students, supervised by accounting instructors, will help prepare tax forms from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., at Park View Elementary. More info and other dates: http://www.ccsd89.org/2019CODTaxFile
Fifth grade parents can learn more about the CCSD 89 human growth and development (puberty) curriculum during a presentation from district nurse Sandy Lawinger at 7 p.m. February 26, in the district office. Parents will be able to view materials, ask questions. More info: http://bit.ly/2BlmIfu
Families who would like to participate in the district’s Cultural Fair should register by February 28. On April 9, the Glen Crest gym will be filled with families presenting their cultural heritage. Your presentation could be through art, music, games, books, artifacts, clothing, videos, photos, dances, crafts, foods, or other ways of sharing your culture. More info: http://bit.ly/2DWm9us
The DuPage Area STEM Expo offers students from kindergarten through high school the chance to explore science, technology, engineering and math with displays, presentations, and activities. 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23, Illinois Tech Campus, Wheaton. The next Glenbard Parent Series speaker is a CCSD 89 graduate! Qasim Rashid is a best-selling author, practicing attorney, and former visiting fellow at Harvard University's Islamic Studies program. Families can now enroll in the Head Start preschool program. CCSD 89 partners with Head Start to offer preschool designed to close the learning gaps for students from low-income families. The Head Start preschool classroom is open to qualifying 3- to 5-year-old students. In general, students in the free program are children who have an identified educational need, but cannot pay for the district’s typically developing preschool program.
