Absences
To report an absence, call the school’s main number, then follow the prompts to the attendance line. Each school has a voicemail that will record absentee information.

The middle school should be contacted before 7:45 a.m. if a child will be absent for part of the day or the entire day. The elementary school should be contacted before 8:30 a.m. if a child will be absent for the morning session or the entire day.
Arrival and dismissal
School principals will be sharing information in their newsletters about arrival and dismissal procedures for each building.
Before- and after-school care
The Butterfield Park District (RecKids) and the B.R. Ryall YMCA (Safe 'n Sound) run before- and after-school programs for CCSD 89 elementary school students. More info: www.ccsd89.org/domain/1299

First day for students: August 21
The first day of the 2024-25 school year for students will be a full day on Wednesday, August 21. Staff will start the school year with two planning days on August 19 and 20.

Health services
Students entering preschool, kindergarten, or sixth grade, as well as students who are new to CCSD 89, must have a current certificate of child health exam and updated immunization record on file. All Illinois children entering kindergarten, second, and sixth grades are required to have a dental exam. An eye exam is required for children enrolling in kindergarten and students new to Illinois. Additionally, any Glen Crest students who want to try out for athletics have a pre-participation form filled out by a doctor. Lunch info
The cost for an elementary lunch will be $3.25, including a milk. The cost for a Glen Crest lunch will be $3.50, including a milk. You can pay directly through MySchoolBucks. Some families prefer to link their MySchoolBucks and PowerSchool accounts but it is not required.

The school day at Glen Crest Middle School is 7:50 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. The school day for elementary school students is 8:50 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.

Transportation
Elementary and middle-school bus routes can now be viewed in PowerSchool. If you bookmarked PowerSchool last year, please note that the website address has changed. You can log in with your previous credentials at: https://ccsd89.powerschool.com/public/
First Student provides morning and afternoon bus routes for regular-education students. To qualify for regular-education busing, a student must live more than 1-1/2 miles from the school or need to cross a state-approved hazardous crossing.
