Glen Crest eighth-grade students will participate in Illinois Youth Survey on January 14
Glen Crest eighth-grade students will participate in the Illinois Youth Survey on Friday, January 14. The Youth Survey is designed to gather information about health and social indicators, including: bullying, nutrition, substance use and perception, school climate, and physical activity.
The survey will be one measure of how safe Glen Crest students feel. It will allow Glen Crest staff to identify any school-wide issues that may need to be addressed in curriculum, instruction, or support.
This voluntary survey is completely anonymous; Glen Crest staff has no access to individual student responses. The survey is administered by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) to students across the state. The IDHS will report cumulative student results to Glen Crest. These results will give the school a picture of students' physical and emotional health.
The Youth Survey was established in 1990, but this is the first time Glen Crest will be participating. If you would prefer that your eighth-grade student does not participate in the survey, please contact Glen Crest Principal Kim Price at kprice@ccsd89.org by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 11. You can also use the opt-out form available on this page: https://iys.cprd.illinois.edu/conducting/opt-out If you do not contact the school about opting out, you are giving your student permission to participate. Students can also choose not to participate.
