Glen Crest student Julius Ellens invited to All-American football game
Glen Crest student Julius Ellens will be lining up against some of the best middle school football players in the country this weekend when he takes part in an eighth-grade all-star game in Orlando, Florida. Julius was one of 75 eighth-grade students selected to participate in the 8th grade Pro Football Hall of Fame All-American game.
Julius, 14, has been playing football for about four years – first with the Glen Ellyn Golden Eagles and then the Naperville Patriots. He is a wide receiver and running back.
This summer, Julius attended a 7-on-7 football camp in Canton, Ohio – home of the football Hall of Fame. The best players from that camp were selected for the 8th grade All-American game.
The game will be played in Orlando, the day before the NFL Pro Bowl. Julius said he’s looking forward to testing himself against a very high level of competition. The players will practice together before splitting into two teams for the January 25 game.
Glen Crest Middle School teacher Danny Sheridan praised Julius as a very humble student who is respected by his peers for his kindness and leadership.
Julius, who attended Arbor View Elementary School, plays basketball and competes in track at Glen Crest.
