10th annual Spartan Pumpkin Run on October 21 will support physical fitness
Community Consolidated School District 89 students and their families are invited to participate in the 10th annual Spartan Pumpkin Run at Glen Crest Middle School on Sunday, October 21. The 3.5-kilometer (2.1 mile) run is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. outside the middle school at 725 Sheehan Avenue, Glen Ellyn.
The run/walk is open to members of the community. Proceeds from the Pumpkin Run benefit Glen Crest students by supporting the costs of a new scoreboard, fitness-room equipment, volleyball uniforms, and equipment for intramurals.
The deadline for early registration is Monday, October 12. Early registration costs $15 and participants will receive their shirt by the date of the run. Registration includes a shirt, one raffle ticket, and bottled water.
Race-day registration and check in will be in the Glen Crest main lobby from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Race-day registration is $20. Race-day registrants will receive a t-shirt about one week after the race.
The registration form can be found here.
Elementary school students must be accompanied by an adult. Children 4 years old and younger are free, but will not receive a t-shirt.
The run/walk starts and finishes at the middle school. The route winds through local neighborhoods, including a trip through nearby Panfish Park. Some local roads will be temporarily closed during the race.
The Spartan Pumpkin Run will be held rain or shine. There are no refunds available.
