Families can now request 2018-19 preschool registration packets

Families interested in having their child attend Community Consolidated School District 89 preschool in the 2018-19 school year can now request a pre-enrollment information packet. To begin the pre-enrollment process, call Arbor View Elementary Building Assistant Jaclyn Ackerman at (630) 469-5505. Preschool student putting glue on paper

Anyone who calls will be added to the mailing list. Pre-enrollment packets will be mailed to homes in January. The packets will include information on when and where the packets should be turned in.

The CCSD 89 preschool program is located at Arbor View Elementary School, 22W430 Ironwood Drive, Glen Ellyn. On December 18, the Board of Education will vote on whether to change the district’s boundaries for the 2018-19 school year. If the Board approves the change, the preschool will move to Briar Glen Elementary School, 1800 Briarcliffe Boulevard, Wheaton, in the 2018-19 school year.

The District offers four- and five-day preschool programs. The half-day preschool classes take place either Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Friday, from 8:30 to 11:10 a.m., or 12:30 to 3:10 p.m.

For the 2018-19 school year, there will be limited openings for 3- and 4-year-old children. Once the District receives the registration packet, required paperwork, and yearly fees, families will be placed in a lottery. Families that are selected through the lottery will be notified by mail and informed on how to complete the registration process for the 2018-2019 school year. Families not selected in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.

Returning preschool students do not participate in the lottery and will register with all other returning students.

The preschool is open to families that live within CCSD 89 boundaries. If the CCSD 89 preschool program moves from Arbor View to Briar Glen, students in CCSD 89 preschool will continue to receive developmentally appropriate curriculum from certified early childhood educators.
