CCSD 89 honored for two decades of high standards in financial reporting
For the 20th consecutive year, the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) has honored Community Consolidated School District 89 with its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting. The award is earned by school districts that have met or exceeded the ASBO’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.
“Community Consolidated School District 89 strives to provide a great educational experience for students while being good stewards of public resources. This award is public recognition of the excellent work we see in the district’s business department every day,” said CCSD 89 Superintendent Dr. Emily K. Tammaru. “I would like to thank Assistant Superintendent Maureen Jones and the finance team for their commitment to students. They are rarely in the spotlight but their work is essential to learning.”
The award reflects the district’s reporting for fiscal year 2019. Recognition through the ASBO program demonstrates commitment to fiscal integrity, shows the district’s dedication to transparency, and can help achieve a better bond rating.
ASBO International, founded in 1910, is a professional organization with approximately 5,000 members. ASBO provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of business practices, professional growth, and effective use of educational resources.
In 2018, Jones was named to a three-year term on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Association of School Business Officials. Jones has been the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations at CCSD 89 since 2010.
