Blood donation is a simple four-step process: registration, medical history, donation, and refreshments. Blood donation usually takes about 10 to 12 minutes. The entire process, from arrival to exit, takes about an hour.
Donors can speed up the process by using VersiPASS, which allows them to fill out basic medical screening questions from their phone the morning of their donation. You can learn more about VersiPASS here: https://www.versiti.org/versipass/illinois
Anyone who donates August 28 will receive a voucher for the free Chicago Bears shirt. They will also receive a coupon for a free entrée at Noodles & Company, with the purchase of a Coca-Cola Freestyle beverage. While supplies last.
The lives of approximately 4.5 million Americans are saved each year by blood transfusions. About 38,000 pints of donated blood are used every day in the U.S.
Heartland Blood Centers provide blood to hospitals across the country. With more local permanent blood centers closing, Glen Crest has become a regular host site. Glen Crest will also host its next blood drive on November 13, 2019. For more information, go to www.ccsd89.org/blood
