March 31, 2020: CCSD 89 remote learning to resume April 7 and continue through April 30
This afternoon, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced the state's 'stay-at-home' order will extend for all of Illinois through Thursday, April 30. The earliest that Community Consolidated School District 89 students could begin learning in school buildings is Friday, May 1.
Monday, March 30, through Friday, April 3, will still be spring break for all CCSD 89 students and teachers. There is be no remote learning and teachers are unavailable during this week. Any families who need assistance during spring break can still reach district staff members at the numbers or email addresses listed at the bottom of this email.
Remote learning to resume Tuesday, April 7
Remote learning will resume on Tuesday, April 7. Monday, April 6 will be an in-service day for staff to prepare for the extended remote learning. Friday, April 10, remains a scheduled day off for students.
All school district events scheduled through April 30 are canceled. If the events can be rescheduled when schools re-open, the district will communicate that out at a later date. The district will continue to communicate important news through email, the district's website, and social-media channels.
Lunches will still be available after spring break. Families can now pick up multiple meals on Mondays and Wednesdays. (See below for more information.)
The remote learning could be extended and the district will continue to share any schedule changes through email, the district's website, and social media channels as soon as possible.

Food available on Mondays, Wednesdays
All CCSD 89 families will still be able to pick up lunches after spring break. Lunches will now be served at 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Families will be able to pick up two lunches on Monday and three lunches on Wednesday.
There is no cost. Families can drive up to either school and receive meals while still in their vehicle. Families can get lunches for each child younger than 19 in their home. Info: https://bit.ly/2UqhyJf
Registration opens for new and returning students April 8
CCSD 89 will open registration for both new and returning students at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8. The individualized SnapCodes that are used to register were mailed to homes on Friday, March 20.
The new-student residency verification events (originally scheduled for March 23-25) were postponed. New families will still have to prove residency and show an original birth certificate in order for their children to start school in 2020-21.

No remote learning during spring break
There is no remote learning during spring break and teachers are not available during that week. If you have an emergency, please contact any of the staff members at the bottom of this email. Remote learning will resume on Tuesday, April 7. Friday, April 10 is a scheduled day off.

School playgrounds closed
All CCSD 89 school playgrounds are closed to the public until further notice. The open areas (fields) near playgrounds can be used during daylight hours, but we strongly recommend that you practice social distancing to prevent the spread of any illness. Do not gather in groups.
