Glen Crest, Park View debut new logos

Glen Crest Middle School and Park View Elementary School will debut new school logos in the 2024-25 school year.

Prior to this school year, both Glen Crest and Park View had been using logos that did not belong to the school, which created both copyright and reproduction issues. Additionally, the previous Glen Crest spartan head was used by several other schools, including two in the local area.

The goal of the new logos is to establish a unique visual identity that can be reproduced in multiple sizes for internal and external communications. Using a consistent logo, color, and style helps all audiences quickly identify the school’s documents, staff, and property.

Both schools held focus-group meetings with students and staff members to identify their preferences for a logo and the qualities they feel represent the school. That feedback was incorporated into the final designs.

The logos were designed by Dominic Buckner, a recent graduate of Northern Illinois University. The logos are the property of Community Consolidated School District 89 and should not be used without permission of the school principal.

Glen Crest

The new Glen Crest logo incorporates the classic Spartan helmet with a prominent ’G’ and hidden ‘C’ as part of the Spartan’s helmet. The round, rotational design represents the always-evolving nature of Glen Crest Middle School.

The Spartan head is looking forward in a determined manner, representative of the students at Glen Crest. The logo is modern, classic, and evolving – characteristics that students and staff members associate with their school.

Park View

Park View logo

The Park View Panther was designed to look fun, friendly, proud, and welcoming, the qualities that both students and staff identified as emblematic of their school community.

The head of the panther makes a subtle ‘P’ and the neck is in a ‘V’ shape to represent Park View. The logo includes a “Panther Paw”, which is frequently used in student recognition.

The old Park View logo had the panther standing on two legs, but students requested an image that made the panther appear to be standing in the more biologically correct four-paw position.
