Jeff Hume Takes Seat on District 89 School Board At a Board reorganizational meeting on May 6, Glen Ellyn resident Jeff Hume was sworn into office as the newest member of the Board of Education for Community Consolidated School District 89. Hume, who is employed by Sprint/Ericsson as a network engineer, ran for a seat on the board in an uncontested race in April. The seat was previously held by Jody Selenica, who chose not to seek re-election to the board. "A quality educational system is the primary foundation of any successful community," said Hume. "I am looking forward to serving the communities of Glen Ellyn, Lombard and Wheaton in this very important way." Hume has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Communication from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Teaching at the Elementary level. Hume has three children who have attended District 89 schools, including one who now attends Northwestern University, one who attends Glenbard South High School, and one who is currently a 7th grader at Glen Crest Middle School. His term will expire in April of 2017. A reception honoring Selenica for her eight years of service to District 89 was held prior to the reorganizational meeting.
