The MISSION of Community Consolidated School District 89
is to prepare our students for a successful future through continuous improvement
of learning, satisfaction and resource utilization. Community Consolidated School District 89 is a comprehensive pre-K-8 public school district serving students and residents from the southern portions of Glen Ellyn, Wheaton and Lombard. District 89 is bordered roughly by Finley Road on the east, President Street on the west, Roosevelt Road on the north and I-88 on the south. This school year District 89 students from grades K-8 will participate in a community-wide reading project featuring books by author Sally Walker. Each month will feature a theme of History, Science or Biography, and students, teachers and parents will read together and share their learning through a project web site. More... Glen Ellyn Historical Society to Host Tavern Day Celebration On Sunday, September 26 the District 89 community is invited to experience a true pioneer adventure at the Glen Ellyn Historical Society's Tavern Day Celebration. Gather at the History Center at 800 N. Main Street in Glen Ellyn and join in the country dancing with the lively old string band, The Common Taters. They will transport participants into an authentic dance gathering from the middle 1800's. Reels and square dances are on the program as well as instruction on how to dance for young and old. More... District 89 Announces Preschool Screening Dates for 2010-2011 Community Consolidated School District 89 conducts preschool screenings throughout the school year at Arbor View School, 22W430 Ironwood Drive, Glen Ellyn. The screening dates are scheduled for Mondays; August 30, 2010, November 1, 2010, January 3, 2011, March 7, 2011 and April 4, 2011. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 630-469-5505. The screening includes vision and hearing screenings, as well as assessment of speech/language skills, motor skills, social-emotional functioning, and conceptual development. Parents who have concerns about possible delays in development or feel their child may have special needs are encouraged to participate. The screening requires approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Children must be residents of District 89.
